Foundation Skateboards was founded by Tod Swank in 1989. Swank grew up skating the Del Mar Ranch in the early '80s and went on to work as a staff photographer at Transworld till '89. At this time, Steve Rocco from Sims was in the process of revolutionising street skating with the advent of World Industries and decided to help Swank out by giving Foundation a start. Swank stored his entire inventory underneath his bed and made sales calls from a makeshift desk that was really just a door turned sideways. Today, Foundation Skateboards is respected as one of the founding brands in the core street industry with items from Hard Goods to soft good Foundation has always been on the ball.
